Last month I was in a meeting where someone raised the issue of ageism—with the (valid) concern that there isn’t enough value placed on the experience and perspective that comes with age. As the oldest person (at 49 years old) in that meeting, I sat back and waited to hear what was going to be said next, feeling a distinct sense that I would need to decide whether or not to keep a straight face.
I didn’t need to wait long.
