Christine, here’s another bonkers coincidence...do you remember BlogHer OG Maria Niles? The Crafts (the couple in this book) are her ancestors! I forget how many “great”s go before “grandparents” but this is her family legacy. When I started reading your post I though “well, this sounds familiar,” and sure enough!
