Well, I'll be danged. After struggling with this FAR longer than my tech- and design-limited brain could really tolerate, this solution WORKED.
I'm sad to have lost the little kettle graphic in my header, but not as sad as I was every time I opened my own Substack and had to squint to even SEE the header...
yes! Thank you for your detailed advice and screenshots. I had tried to set it up a year ago and gave up in frustration. But after reading your post I was able to create a new one and put it up in just a short time. Thank you!!
And the font "Brightwall" is one of my personal favorites, so I hope it doesn't seem like I am copying you. 😜😁
Thank you to infinity and beyond. I read this and I had flashbacks to replacing my blog header iona ago and trying to get it right but just not. ever. I am hopeful to getting closer on Substack :)
OMG, Christine, I can't begin to estimate the time and aggravation the Wordmark caused me. Your help was greatly appreciated. I finally cracked the case with your assistance. Thank you!
Interesting to find your post about this. I wondered if you experienced what I did. Mine is fine on desktop but it doesn't resize for mobile so it gets covered up by the 'subscribe' button. Any bright ideas?!
Yes, the mobile problem seems universal from my preliminary checking of various working (on desktop) wordmarks. I didn’t see mobile settings when I was working on this so it may be a bigger substack backend issue.

I'm thrilled this worked for you!
This is super helpful! And now I know what writing task I'm going to work on tomorrow afternoon.
It looks like you have a custom header! I didn't see it yesterday when you posted so did this how-to solve the problem for you? I hope so!

Hooray! I am thrilled to hear it. And I am not proprietary about fonts! :-)

OMG that was a thing! I hope this helps you!

I’m so glad it worked for you! The whole situation is bonkers!

Yeah I think so too. Fairly annoying.
Agree, feels basic! (As does the ability to upload and see a wordmark based on the specs provided LOL.)
SO helpful- was glad to see I wasn't the only one too!
Hooray! I’m so glad it’s helpful!
Thank you, that worked for me also.
Wonderful -- I'm so happy to hear it!
I just wish I could get mine to work on mobile view! They don’t seem to auto size
Yes, I couldn’t find a mobile setting either!
I’ve had success dragging the design to the edges and dragging it instead of uploading. Go figure! 😂
OMG I AM DEAD. lol
✨😅
Thank you so much, this saved me!
